Fia Moser is the dance director, instructor, and choreographer for Fia Moser Dance Academy. Classes at FMDA are individualized and collaborative. Fia began her dance training in ballet, Irish, and modern at age five. She went on to study dance at Sweet Briar College. In addition to her own studio, Fia often teaches dance at private schools around Burlington. While experienced in all dance forms, her passions lie in Irish dance, modern dance, and choreography.
Fia is an open champion Irish dancer in the CLRG organization (the highest level of Irish dance). She has competed at the New England Regional Irish dance Championships (Oireachtas), the North American National Championships, and the All Ireland Championships (Oireachtas Rince na hÉireann) in Belfast, Ireland. She danced with five schools including Barker Ballet, Devine-Reny Irish Dance, Inishfree Irish Dance, and Whyte Irish Step in Boston, and Flynn Irish Dance in New York City, as well as taking classes with Nova Contemporary Dance Collective in Burlington. In 2016, she choreographed for and taught the RTN Irish dance organization’s Under 16 second place National champion. In 2017, she choreographed for and taught the RTN Irish dance senior ladies' FIRST PLACE national champion.
Fia believes dancers should not only achieve technical competence, but also cultural connection and artistic expression through Irish dance. Through modern dance, she hopes students will flourish creatively, have fun, and find their own way of expressing themselves through movement.
Outside of dance, Fia lives her life as a writer and childcare provider. She writes both children's and adult novels and is represented by Suzie Townsend of New Leaf Literary in New York City. She is currently working towards her Masters of Fine Arts in Writing for Children at Vermont College of Fine Arts. She loves animals and shares her life with her service dog, Blue, who tags along to the studio. Her debut middle grade novel, THE FLOURISHING OF FLORALIE LAUREL, can be found wherever books are sold, and her second middle grade novel, THE SERENDIPITY OF FLIGHTLESS THINGS, will be released in Summer 2019 by Little Bee Books.
